The Children’s Hospital League hosts an annual “Family Day” at Children’s Hospital Boston. Family Day is dedicated to providing laughter and fun for all the patients and their families.

Everyone participates in activities in the hospital lobby and in the Patient Entertainment Center or from patient rooms via closed circuit TV.

Entertainment is often provided by performers who donate their time and talent. The Big Apple CircusTM Clowns roam the lobby, engaging the children and their families in all kids of pranks, eliciting much laughter and joy. Bonaparte performs his magic show and kept the children in awe. “Spunky on Stilts” cycles his way around the lobby, joking with all as he passed, then changes hats and becomes a juggler. The Discovery Museum features various experiments that could be performed by children of all ages.

There are also many arts and crafts projects for everyone to participate in, such as face painting, cookie decorating and plaster pieces to paint. The attraction of the afternoon is often to have your picture taken with your parents, and to have a caricature made of yourself.  Volunteers who give their time experienced an emotional rush. They cry, they laugh and they share the warmth of the day with parents and children alike.
